On this page I will try to explain some of the problems in building a deck around an aboveground pool. One of the greatest problems is trying to tie the deck
into the pool sides.
1. If you have a metal top rail on your pool than this is the way you
can mount the deck attachment. First you take off the metal rail and
attach a treated 1x4 with 3/4 inch deck screws to the top of the rail remount the rail onto the pool sides. Now you have something to attach the decking to.
Continue this procedure all the way around the pool where you want to
have decking to the edge of the pool. This procedure is for those of you
who do not want a step at the edge of the pool.
2. For those of you who have plastic or composite pool rails the
procedure is the same except that you have to pre-drill the hole in the
rail and mount with appropriate screws (length of screw determined by
thickness of pool rail and 1x4) then remount rail and continue around
the pool
where deck is going to be installed.
3.The reason I do this is to do away with a step at the pool edge which is much safer then a step people can trip on and end up in the pool unexpectedly.

If you have any questions regarding deck construction please email me at
stevehar@abovegroundpoolsandecks.com and I will get back to you with
full details on installation for your particular pool model. As these
pool decks are quite popular please be patient. I will get back to you as
soon as time permits, usually within 48 hours.

This is a picture of my aboveground pool,
we used a sandy cream paint for the deck and a blue that matched the
liner. Looks pretty good for an aboveground pool hey.
